Genevieve has encapsulated everything I wanted to say except that in remote areas like Mount Isa, wholesome entertainment can be quite sparse and I'll miss L&N if it doesn't return...

Letter & Numbers
This show is one of the most worthwhile on television, Why axe it, under guise of "resting"? It is interesting, interactive and a show for all ages and importantly a local show. We do NOT NEED or want any more cooking shows, or the English version of L&N. Please reconsider your decision.

Why
If you decicion makers have any heart you must put Letters and Numbers back onto our screen. My pre-evening entertainment has been destroyed and I am not happy.

SBS you have lost my family entirely now
I posted a long comment on SBS's website so I'll keep it short. Letters & Numbers was fun, challenging, local and the ONLY reason I ever watch SBS. SBS has lost us now because we won't bother watching anything else. SBS went downhill when ads were introduced. Now it's as bad as the other stations.

Oh and Doreen from Adelaide...why are you even here if you don't care? I honestly don't understand you or SBS's decision. Both seem crazy and totally illogical!

Chill all
Please don't anyone be bothered by a naysayer here. This is a support sight (it's called lanfans.org) and therefore anyone here who is not supportive doesn't even deserve to be acknowledged, let alone replied to.
Let's just get the show back. That's what we all want.

Memo SBS - please read all of the above, take note and add my name. SBS will be rarely watched in our house from now on.

How refreshing it was to have a show with intelligent, modest hosts and contestants. It was both entertaining and educational.

I have enjoyed watching since it began, and is one of the few shows on television that is worth watching. Given its popularity, I cannot understand why SBS would opt to "rest" the program. It makes absolutely no sense.

I will miss the friendly banter between David, Lilly and Richard. Richard is a lovely host, Lilly impresses us with her solutions and tweakage, whilst David provides interesting insights into the ENglish language.

I am sick to death of the plethora of cooking shows on TV. Surely SBS produces enough food TV. Lilly was suited to Letters and Numbers because of her mathematical ability and somewhat awkward charm. A food show does not capitalise on her talent.

I am most unimpressed SBS!!!

Countdown from the UK is no substitute for our L&N. Lets develop the talent that we have here and inspire people to challenge themselves.

Letters & Numbers
Please bring back Letters and Numbers at 6 o'clock every weekday evening. Not only do we miss it but in our late 70's it is one of the few shows SBS puts on that not only makes our day but encourages us to keep living independently with all our strength until the next evening. Please for the sake of older Australians like us reinstate the show. I have checked with a wide range of our friends, our age and younger and not one has welcomed your decision to stop the show. Even our young grandson (12) is upset because he said it helped him so much at school, in maths and English. [Especially English]. Please take the bull by the horns and do it and don't procrastinate. The show with which you replaced L & N is to us, an insult to our intelligence. Teddy & Judy

What gives you the right to instruct everyone else on how to conduct their lives? I'm sure the respondents to this petition are quite capable of living their own lives without your gratuitous advice.

It seems you are advocating acquiescence when people in authority make decisions we disagree with. I beg to differ.

The axing of L&N might not be the world's most pressing tragedy, but (in the absence of any compelling, coherent reasons from SBS management) it does seem to be an injustice that many here feel could be righted if enough viewers make their protests heard. And it is a worthwhile protest, for L&N (unlike most TV programmes)is educative and promotes mental agility.

Let me try to make sense of all this: intelligent, funny, simple, entertaining, easy to produce (presumably), interesting, broadly-appealing, part of many people's daily ritual, did i mention intelligent?
No wonder the show has been cancelled!
